If you are able to please give a listen to the above song especially while reading.

At the time of playing I was a fervent fan of the DR series and found myself eager to consume the next iteration of content within the series. Danganronpa V3 was a sequel that potentially may be the final games within the universe and game that was made by the original developers.

My feelings of this game are heavily engrained with a lot of my nostalgia for my last year at University, and the memories and emotions at that time so please take this with a grain of salt, as thinking backing to that period of playing this game it could only be described as whirlwind of emotions, problems, sadness, happiness and everything in-between.

V3 iterated on it's previous titles of DR1 and DR2 and presented the series staples, and tropes with a glossy fresh coat of paint. The minigame such as hang-mans gambit have been reworked to be much more appealing, new games such as the sword clash argument, psyche taxi, and scrum debate take the scene with style and make the conversations not only engaging during the trials, as well as fun and interactive with a feeling that you are fighting for something with a lot of intensity.

For a story that's completely driven by it's main cast, I think Spike Chunsoft has created their best work since and maybe ever with the designs and personalities of each and every character. All of them are full of personality and strikingly designed with tons of creativity. Coupled with an amazing translation job done by Spike Chunsoft, it really breathes a lot of life into the characters to read and hear what they say. Often times I found myself chuckling and even laughing quite hard once or twice at much of the dialogue and silliness that the characters portray and have. This is extremely important for a death game series like this because at the end of the day, the more characters you enjoy, the harder it is to see them kill or be killed. Overall this cast feels the strongest and most likeable out of the trilogy and I had a hard time finding someone I truly disliked in the game.

For the trials, I felt as though they were a majority pretty well thought out and fun. The first trial in this game is something that I feel as though almost everyone should experience, even if they aren't fans of the series whatsoever. It's probably one of the most clever, creative, and also risky things I've seen a game of this genre do.

As far as the music goes its a DR game, so it's fantastic. No need to worry there.

The ending of this game as you may know is a point of conflict for many of the fans. While I won't speak much on it, I think it's best you go into the game for it's ending with 0 pre-conceived notions and opinions given to you from other people. Form your own opinion on how you feel, think on it, and maybe revisit it with some extra analysis and see how it lands. For myself, I think it was the right and best ending we not only could've gotten, but needed as well.

To close out I'd just like to say the following. This game and series found me at time where nothing felt like it made sense, I didn't know what I wanted, and yet I felt stuck with the current reality and hated it. Songs such as the one posted above like Cool Morning colored the days I spent waking up early to prepare a warm coffee and dress and bike to school in the cold and spring air. It was always a treat to sit back and relax after a long day and play and nibble away at the story and the character interactions. Because of my experience and feelings here I definitely thing Danganronpa V3 is a damn good game.

And I hope that in writing all of this and my own personal feelings and experience on my first playthrough is enough to convince you to pick it up.

If you do I hope this game and series finds you at just the right place and time when you need it the most like it did for me.
