I have such a big nostalgia to this game, when I was playing countless hours of multiplayer with family. I loved every minute back then. Things like the sound design, the fast paced action, the guns etc. etc. got deep embedded in my core memories. I just dipped my toes into the singleplayer, because it was too scary at the time lol. Been in my backlog forever and I finally came through. It's fascinating how well this game holds up and how much fun it is to play. Only very few moments got me a bit frustrated, like the trainsequence and the sometimes annoying movement during platforms (because it's an old game basically). Also the Zen part of the game almost had me just watch a youtube clip of the ending, cause damn that boss was hard and kind of tiresome cause of the portals. Anyways a must play for anyone interested in gamehistory or just to have a freaking blast!

Coming from both yakuza kiwami and zero I was a bit surprised to find out kiwami 2 didnt quite do it for me. To be honest I can't tell you what exactly put me off. I guess it must have been a mix of a some what clunky combat, unsatisfying levelup system and a story which didnt catch my fullest interest.

Allthough I would never call kiwami 2 by any means a bad game. I just can't compare it to my previous experience in the franchise. Maybe this just isnt the game meant for me.
