This game is painfully mid and is being hard carried by the early 1930s New Orleans atmosphere. I'm giving it an extra half star because despite its flaws, I've found myself achievement hunting (so I obviously like it a bit more than I thought).

The voice acting is painful at times. Kind of like they gave the actors the script last minute and had them read most of the lines without context. The delivery feels flat a lot of the time and the emotions don't seem to be conveyed properly. I know it's not the fault of the actors themselves because Jodie Comer and David Harbour are amazing actors. It could also be the writing, which was LACKING a lot of the time (my best friend described it as "boring", and I was inclined to agree for a while).

Gameplay is frustrating and GLITCHY. I did my first playthrough as Emily (haven't finished my Edward one yet so I'm not sure if it's the same for him), and this girl gets stuck on everything... and I mean EVERYTHING. I walk too close to a crate??? Well, Emily lives on that crate now. I have to re-load my most recent save to free her from her crate cage. And that kind of glitch would be fine and easily forgotten if it didn't HAPPEN CONSTANTLY. Seriously, it happened so many times it made me want to scream. Sometimes I would get lucky and if I swung my melee weapon around enough she would get dislodged. There's a scene where you don't fight the enemies, you RUN and she would get CAUGHT ON THE ENEMIES as they emerged from the water. Then she would be stuck and get beat to death. EMILY, PLEASE!!!!!

In sum: It's a fine little mystery game with a stellar atmosphere and beautiful soundtrack. It can be glitchy and questionably acted. I definitely recommend giving it a shot, just... maybe wait until it goes on sale.

It's fun and has a lot of potential! Right now it's too short and the dialogue is too repetitive. The menu makes it look like there's a lot more planned, so I'm excited to see more of it.

In theory I love almost every concept this game offers, but the way it was put together was just a pretentious mess. The musical scene was genius though.
