If you count run n guns you're basically missing all of the Mega Man and Metal Slug games.

I don't consider Mega Man to be a run n gun because it emphasizes platforming far more than something like Metal Slug. Metal Slug 3 is an honourable mention for sure though!

on that note i always thought of stuff like Mega Man, Castlevania, and Ninja Gaiden as "action platformers" tbh
