uhhh so this games shoots back and forth between great and questionable design decisions.

Some of the bad or mediocre is combat. It's between your weapon and your magic spells, melee is shallow honestly and the more you run and level with side quests the more OP you'd be compared to story missions.
Visuals are dated, but my biggest gripe is the horrible bloom.
Environment design is meh but the art direction is much, much better.
Good/great is: Writing, although I got too bored to replay all 4 endings, the added insights elevate hidden details from being subtexts into a main position.
Art elements such as char design, music are all at the very least decent.
GIMMICKS!! Some story missions are unique experiences, it completely shifts the mood. Taking ideas from different genres and applied nicely.

I don't like recommending a generic experience just for the plot, so i'm on the fence about recommending it for a modern replay, but I think you should check out the remake.
