Super Mario 3D World is carried by incredible level design and creative ideas. It has some odd aspects, like movement being locked to 8 directions and the removal of movement techniques present in other 3D Mario entries, but this is rarely a problem because the levels are designed with these restraints in mind. Nearly every single level is distinct and has a unique, memorable idea that gives them purpose. Some ideas carry over between worlds, like the Plessie levels, but most stay confined to their meticulously designed playground, so you always get to see them at their best. 4-Player co-op also makes an appearance and is as chaotic as ever, so this game is even better with friends.
