Megaman 9 is a return back to its roots. We left the charge shot and slide behind and when back to ol' megaman two basic abilities. I do think removing the charge shot was a good change, since enemies are much less beefier and you don't really miss it too much since many of your other weapons are just as good as dealing with enemies. The slide is a notable absences however, since many enemies and level design was designed around the slide and the game makes you feel its absence a ton. The weapons are probably the best in the series, with tons of variety and each one feels useful in its own way. Black Hole Bomb is great at clearing out high hp foes, the Laser Trident pierces shields, and even the Hornet Chaser is great at picking at items from afar. My favorite has got to be the Jewel Satellite, which acts a barrier around Megaman and doesn't break unless defeating a large enough enemy. Probably the best shield weapon in the series. All the stages are great but I do feel that Willy Castle goes on for way more then it should. Overall one of the better Megaman games and is definitely worth a try, even as a newcomer to the series.
