I love this game. This, Rondo of Blood and Bloodlines. Tie for me on the best of the side scrolling series. (Symphony will always be the best of the metroidvanias) The music is less bouncy but more atmospheric and orchestral and I think that works with the eerie/gothic tone this game sets. I actually love the controls on this game. You can now whip in eight directions which I enjoy. Simon feels a lot less stiff and you can control his jump midair. I honestly think it’s refreshing for the series. The game consist of about 15 levels and the game can get cheap at times. But I enjoy it and come back to play this one often. I think it’s a classic and it’s one of my favorite snes games.
