(Played Before 2023) I really wanted to love this game more. I love the world it created, the characters, the music, and I hear about how everyone else loves this game. But I played through a lot of it, did exploration and all these different things and... It didn't click with me. I can't say it is a bad game, but I just don't "see" it like everyone else. I played without a guide when I probably should've, because I had so many items I had no idea what to do with, I missed out on some important areas and items, and I had some other issues. I also really didn't like the dungeons, and their puzzles were okay but got boring or frustrating at most, especially the motion puzzle ones. The combat was good and I liked the characters but I hated the limited use items because I couldn't really "build" my character with the weapons I wanted, it was just whatever was in my inventory at the time unless I grinded. I also got really frustrated with the performance. On the Switch, which is the best version of the game, I would bounce between 20 and 30 which was borderline unplayable for the 100+ hours I put into it. I really hated this a whole lot and I have no idea how Tears of the Kingdom will handle this. I know that this game has good qualities and most of the stuff is more 'not for me' than the game being bad, but this is a personal rating and not an objective review of the game. I really enjoyed the story though, and I think it was a unique take on the game and really carried it through the whole thing. I also don't think this game has that much replayability, and I tried going back to play it again to get ready for the sequel but just grew bored with it after a bit.
