It's honestly not bad, I preordered it years ago and then cancelled my preorder and only just got into it now and it's pretty fun but there are a lot of reminders that you are playing a somewhat kind of empty and broken game. It feels like a shooting gallery instead of a story, I guess is how I can best put it.

This game is absolutely awesome and extremely beautiful to look at, but I think I kind of ruined it for myself by accident. I won on my 5th run or so and got to Endless Mode (and lost at Ante 10 and Round 26) without getting to truly spend a lot of time with the game, hopefully it still feels replayable and I can get a lot of enjoyment out of it still.
I didn't know how to play Poker before buying this but it's really helpful for learning because I picked it up really fast.
This game is soooo complex and there's so many interactions that it's almost breathtaking, I can't even think of a game to compare it with really but it's amazing when your mind gets flooded with potentiality when you see certain cards and so on, it's extremely pleasurable to play.
My deck basically worked with the following, you'll see very quickly how strong it is:
Jolly Joker (Switched out for Half Joker later)
Half Joker (Bought very late in the run)
Blue Joker
Green Joker
Supernova
Card Sharp
Would love to be able to see a run history on the main menu and at the end of your game like Slay the Spire has.
The seed is included in the screenshots if you're interested in that.

They tried to modernize it and make the menus feel sleek, they added a bunch of social media features, they bloated it with features most people won't ever use, asks you to log in with a third party account, etc. It refuses to connect (I don't have it blocked, I manually unblocked each of the previous games and they all worked fine , and I can't view choice statistics made by all players. And honestly if I had known you don't play as Clementine I probably wouldn't have bought it and just read a synopsis and skipped it.
I don't like how they don't hide episode spoilers by default either, in the previous games you would only see the next episode listing if you deliberately went ahead of your current episode to look at it, in this one it's all visible by default.
I really dislike modern developers. This stuff happens with literally every developer as they get more successful. It's so strange.
The main character is kind of a male Mary Sue, it's a little lame. Also Kenny got like 5> minutes of time which is ridiculous.
I had to force myself to finish it, I didn't want to play as Javier I just care about Clementine. The writing is pretty bad in this game and it feels like the choices matter the least in this one compared to the first two.
