I thought the game was great for the most part. The environment was super cool, the enemies were interesting, the antagonists are all wonderful to watch and full of character, and it was just a good time. I'm not a fan of the goofy as plot twist at the end which I won't get into here, but really other than that I don't have any major complaints. It was just a very solid entry into the series that I liked a lot.
Despite my love for resident evil and RE4's insane praise as the best in the series, I never played through the original, only having played the first 6 or so missions. Similarly to RE1 and the early spinoffs like 0 and code veronica, the main thing that turned me off were the clunky feeling controls adding a layer of difficulty on top of the existing difficulty that just didn't feel great to play. That being said, even though I didn't have a great time in my limited time playing RE4 2005, this remake is easily my favorite RE game to date. I finished it in 2 sittings and instantly went back in to start getting missed achievements. I haven't been this hooked into an RE game since RE2 remake which was my first experience with the series. The areas and enemies are all excellent, the combat is the best the series has ever been. and there is not a single character I dislike. I has barely been 48 hours since this game dropped but I can safely say that I love it. I can definitely see this being a game that I regularly replay and get the absolute most out of because I just want to get as much time out of this game as humanly possible.
