Even if the jank is sometimes a bit too noticeable, there's a ton of love and ambition poured into this, especially considering the core team at Modern Storyteller is comprised of only three people -- and they enact one hell of a payoff, delivering one of the most satisfying moment-to-moment gameplay experiences I've had in quite a while. The ending as well (the canonical one) is almost worth the price of admission alone.
