This is the best 2D Mario since SMB3. It is the most fun I've had with a Mario property. It was nostalgic in all the right ways, but also so, so fresh. The level design is inspired, the audio design is on another level, and the new Wonder seeds are so much fun to go for. Completing it felt so natural, nothing got repetitive and it just felt joyous to play.

This game is just incredible. It's the first just improved. While I fully understand why this game wasn't game of the year (I agree BG3 definitely deserved it) this game was just perfect to play. It just feels so good to complete everything, its satisfying to unlock new things, and it feels so rewarding with a strong story to support it. A near perfect video game.

To preface, I am terrible at fighting games. I love them, but I am a scrub at all fighting games and just cannot get the timing and frame perfect pressing down to be good at these games. With that said, this is my favorite fighting game. It feels so accessible and it teaches you these things in a fun, engaging way. For fighting game vets, I'm not sure how you will feel, but for people interested in fighting games but maybe don't feel confident in them, this game is awesome. I highly recommend using SF6 as your jumping in point for fighting games.
