Feels like Puyo Puyo's Sonic Jam moment. Great ports and oodles of new content. Lots of care was taken to retrofit mechanics and characters from later games into Tsuu's engine and art style. It's a real treat for fans and one of the best ways to play these games.

Edit: oh yeah there's also a whole rpg mode with an overworld and dungeons and it's better than the actual Puyo Puyo rpg released sixteen years later. Good stuff!

If only this came out here... Maybe I need to see how I can play NTSC-J PS1 games on my PS2, or if the 3 can do it, because I had no idea this existed until now and I'm dumb in the head for Puyo.

@Weatherby heard of Popstarter? It's an application that you put in your OPL folder (the one with DVD, CD, ART, etc) that allows you to load ps1 games through OPL. I have a PS2 slim so I can't use a hard drive but I got it working over SMB and it works great. You will need to convert them to VCD format (there's a computer application called PSXVCD or something like that for converting them), and the VCDs will need to be renamed with something like OPL Manager that puts the game ID thing thing before the name (i.e SLPS.03114.Puyo Puyo Box.vcd, SLUS.00067.Castlevania Symphony of the Night.vcd, SLUS.01265.Rayman Brain Games.vcd, etc). If you don't feel like renaming each one of them, you can fake it out by putting in any ID (so like SLUS.01265.Puyo Puyo Box.vcd, SLUS.01265.Castlevania Symphony of the Night, SLUS.01265.Rayman Brain Games, etc). I imagine there's probably some config file or something that looks for the ID or whatever it's called that implements hacks to optimize performance or something like that, so I would avoid using the same one. There's some compatibility issues but most games seem to work just fine, like ps2 games on OPL

Might need to look into it. Last I checked, I was told that PS1 games could only be loaded off the HDD using emulation, and that emulators weren't well supported for it. Apparently there is a way to just run NTSC-J games using Free McBoot but I need to watch the tutorial video I found for that later. I kind of like owning physical copies of Japan only games, so I'd gladly pick up Puyo Puyo Box if Free McBoot lets me bypass the region lock.
