im goin 2 kick the shit out of this game

Fun, much like the other NES Mega Man titles, but not as much as those. This is mostly due to like, bullshit ass difficulty in some parts (Wily 1, Wily 4) and then just simply bad level design (see Elec Man)

Now thhis game is some right bullshit but even in spite of that i really liked it, certainly more than the first game

im not going to experience something like this again

some odd physics at first, but not hard to work around. mostly an inoffensive, pretty alright platformer. i liked the ost and the protagonist's design and such, but at times the game could get kind of ugly (especially the middle)

fug music on the map

what really can i say, just a pretty simple puzzle game. reminds me of a lot of games that came later on though. it faults pretty heavily from just looking and sounding boring, and that kind of stuff is vital in keeping someone interested in this type of game, so i can't say i'm leaning very positively

so my next roll was actually a very damn solid game, a game to think of when the genesis is mentioned. starts off very fair before kicking it up a notch as it goes, and by then it's still mostly reasonable. very fun to look at as well and lots of memorable sections, all topped off with a very fun ost

doesn't suffer the arcade -> console jump as hard as super thunder blade, although it is again noticeably weaker and kind of amusing. the main difference here is that is actually remains playable at the end of the day. 1 player it kind of sucks dick though and its really short anyway

so while this still isn't quite on the level of 3&k it's absolutely better than i remember. everything i remember struggling with prior was much less awkward this time around (oil ocean onwards, mostly). took some time to look at the little extra details in backgrounds and shit and they're very pretty as well. it's easy to let those kinds of things slip by when you're playing a game heavily focusing on speed, but when you really take your time to look closely it really is a drastic improvement over it's predecessor

Whats up with this guy

(sonic's ultimate genesis collection 9/40)

hoooh god i was hoping i would roll this one later on. there's tons of potential, it's a game of many firsts for the genre, but it is MADDENING. grinding is always quite a hassle but this game takes it and SPRINTS. more of the game is grinding and tedium than plot advancements. i can guarantee you i would not have followed through with this one without the fast forward feature on retroarch. i will say though, the plot and style are cool and in that regard it was a lot less dull than i was expecting (although, again, it got dragged back down there by the gameplay). the characters were a little flat though, the only one that drew my interest really was nei.

so like, this has a lot of things going for it really. there's undoubtedly some charm despite its absolutely insane gameplay problems, but not enough to the extent where i can say i liked it. which is a shame, because i was,,really hoping to actually

another arcade -> console game in the collection, however this is not near as neutered as thunder blade and altered beast for example. i like the stupid fucking laugh they do a lot that's my favorite thing here
