Neat little pinball metroidvania. I especially liked the character designs and the artdesign in general. I do not know why you use fruits as a currency, that is the only off putting visual choice for me because those things look like they are straigh out of a mobile game. My biggest complain about the game though is the navigation trough the world. Sometimes getting from point A to point B was so freaking tedious and frustating because I accidentally entered tricky to get out of pinball passages multiple times because I believed it to be part of my way to point B.

I am really drawn to dark and brutal fantasy games. But damn the controls are crazy bad and the combat is only okayish. I would have liked to see more of the game but after I entered a dwarfen mining site, there came a point where I simply was not able to beat a certain enemy accompanied by an archer with the higher ground. I tried this part about two dozen times until I dropped the game. Would love to try out a different character in the future if the controls get updated or something. Maybe a steam controller or the steam deck is the key necessary to be able to adjust the controls to my linking.

I have completed the game a second time now (after abandoning my nightmare run in 2022) and it remains one of the absolutely best first person shooters out there. The weapons, the enemies, the sounds and music, as well as the art design are just incredible. I even enjoyed the plot and lore of the game. The only enemy I do not enjoy fighting is the Marauder (the one with the reflective shield, shotgun and dog) . I get that this enemy is supposed to be a challenge as his only purpose is to hunt down the Slayer, but I feel like they went to far with him. You have to be in a certain range for him to make the attack that gives you the only opening for you to damage him, but this range is not clearly communicated to the player. Get too close and he hits you with his shotgun, go too far away and he summons a dog and shoots projectiles at you. They introduce him in a bossfight and that is where I feel he belongs. But throwing him at the player while there are 25 other demons in the area is what made me drop my nightmare (highest difficutly) run even though I love the thrill of that difficulty. I also have to mention that they did Mick Gordon dirty and people should be fired for that fiasco. Apart from that, this is a great video game and certainly up there among the best games of its genre.
