Bio
Games are very important to me. Whether they be long epics with characters that grow and change over long story arcs, or short and tight arcade experiences that get your brain engaged and your dopamine flowing - I love them all and everything in between.

My ratings system here will almost entirely be based on my own subjective opinion rather than a comprehensive objective analysis of quality. That being said, there will be outliers to this, and I'll try to mention that in my reviews.

Konami really did make great games back in the day. One of their flagship titles, Castlevania was a landmark in atmosphere, difficulty, and theming for the early NES. I'll never forget the patterns for getting through this game, the strategies I found on my own through trial and error, or the simple yet iconic soundtrack.

I think later titles perfected what this laid the groundwork for (Castlevania 3 and Super Castlevania 4 for instance) but this initial title is still worth going back to to this day, which is impressive compared to the first Mega Man title, which it felt like was the series which competed most with Castlevania back in this time, along with Ninja Gaiden.

I am happy we have games like Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 1 and 2 to hold the torch for this iconic style of vampiric retro delight, and while I dig the Metroidvania adventure titles a tad more, I respect this style immensely and it should not go unnoticed.

I like this game. Fun bullet hell schmup. I love the style and aesthetic, music is cool too. Not life changing, but very cool game.

This is the one entry in a short list of sega genesis games I had a brilliant experience with. I played it on console a year and a half ago, and at first, I had the same experience I've always had with 2d sonic games: Having fun, but very annoyed by the obstacles and limiting my average speed level. I thought to myself, like a lot of people, "man its so annoying i have to stop and play slow sometimes."

Of course, as sonic fans understand, all i needed to do was play and play. I started to learn the levels, everything started to mesh in a cohesive way, and i started to get faster and faster. Jump here, kill this enemy in this specific way, jump up here and get this shield, etc. So, once it clicked, I understood why sonic fans love these classic sonic games.

What a fun game to get good at. Reminds me of 3d mario games in that way: getting good at this game is a lovely experience. Also, not to disrespect the other aspects of this game that are clean as fuck. It has incredible music, sprite art, and physics. All in all, a fantastic follow up to the first game and a game that grew on me massively as I played it.
