ruined horror games for years to come, pretty neato tho

I'm in love with this game's style and concept. Open world collectathon pinball Mario game? Sounds like game of the year material to me. Sadly this is one of the only examples of Nintendo putting out a straight up frustrating, unpolished experience who's mechanics needed some serious fine tuning. The flippers are just too small to have the level of control the game asks of you.
A form of pure torture, but in a somewhat based way.

Didn't know this game existed until a few days ago when @MagneticBurn reviewed this and instantly caught my attention with the cover art. What hooked me even more is the fact that everyone is praising this as one of the best shooters on the N64.

Having now beaten the game, this is definetly a very good shooter and you owe yourself to play this game if you are into shooters.

The difficulty is just right. The game is very challenging but fair, and not very punishing as you have limited lives, but unlimited continues.

I actually recommend this for people looking to get into the shooter (shmup) genre as this one is a bit less intense than most giving you a dodge button with i-frames, which is something that absolutely makes this game more accessible to newcomers. If you take advantage of that dodge button, you can clear this game, not too easily, but it makes nothing feel unfair.

What I loved most about Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth is the graphics. It has the most charming type of 3D low poly of the generation, something akin to Mega Man legends or Sin and Punishment. It makes blasting things feel way more satisfying and crunchier.

Heard this game was underrated back in the day and now is getting the praise it deserves. Great surprise and I'm glad I played it. Now I'm in the mood to play more shooters.

Upgrades behind upgrades behind upgrades. This game feels structured like a mobile game, except it just asks for you time and not your money; and since they probably wanted to make a "infinite" rogue lite, yeah sure. I just find the gamefeel just slightly not good enough for how fast the game can be. Yeah, mainly just talking about getting filtered by elysium duo boss. Whatever, its fine, but for sure least favourite Supergiant

it's a fairly laid-back shoot 'em up, there aren't many bullets on the screen. The size of the hitbox seems a bit excessive to me; however, there's the ability to reflect bullets about to hit your ship, with a very short cooldown (approximately 1-2 seconds). Using a controller makes the game very suitable for beginners, and for the more skilled players it becomes a shoot 'em up to relax with.

During boss fights, the quantity of bullets on the screen increases drastically. The third boss annoys me a lot with its tendency to traverse the perimeter of the screen. On the contrary, I enjoyed the other ones; the last boss, Duoss Core Complete, is the one I have a platonic love for.

The three available ships, to choose from at the beginning of the game, differ significantly in firepower, special attack, and speed. They can be interpreted, in my opinion, as an easy, normal, and hard mode. The green one is very slow, and its firepower is kind of on the lower side, making it not a good combination. I would call it the hard mode of the game, but in an annoying way. The blue one is perhaps too powerful, especially because the time window available to reflect incoming bullets is very long. It's effectively an easy mode, thanks to its special attack that can almost immediately eliminate any boss.

The angriest game I have ever seen in my life. This is a spiritual successor to Strider released by the creator of Strider after getting fired from Capcom, and it is entirely about corporate greed trying to kill your soul and being empowered by a hateful god to ruin everything. The vibe is just as toxic as could be, and it is truly something to behold.

So... ah, was "Lord Bassoon" trademarked, or what? Guys, you were making a FAN TRANSLATION, with all the 20/20 hindsight, after the fact, "I experienced a popular culture in North America" that comes with it. THIS WAS A CHOICE.

Otherwise a wonderful game. It's like Ico except I found myself shouting "will you stop doing that and get over here, you dumb bitch?!" a lot less this time.

Confirmed #bats

Look im done with reviewing on this website so treat this as a warning this is the probably the worst designed puzzle game i've ever played.

Some of the most creative platforming in a while, but it's such a groaner. This game needed an editor, the one who'd say "I think you could go for a less busy artstyle and cut down on epileptic flashes", "maybe introducing an isometric mode of play with entirely different control scheme isn't the best idea" and "there is such thing as too many fart jokes".

What a stupidly petty concept for a video game, I kinda love it ngl. This game wasn't ever meant to be commercially sold; only like ~100 copies exist and they were given out at some business meeting or something. As a result, this game is one of the most expensive Atari carts costing thousands of dollars, so enjoy your four-figure atari coke propaganda, game collectors. The game is an extremely simple romhack of the Atari 2600 port of Space Invaders except now you control Coke and the invaders are Pepsi (with alien companions since pepsi is a 5-letter word and there are 6 columns of enemies in Space Invaders, good job with that one guys). The gimmick is that as you are the almighty Coca-Cola company, you are invincible the entire game. No matter how many times Pepsi hits you, you will always get right back up to continue destroying them. If the enemies get to the bottom, instead of triggering an immediate game over like regular invaders, the Pepsi invaders will just keep bouncing back and forth until you do destroy them. The game is set on a 3-minute score timer, loudly flashing "COKE WINS" once the time is up. Could this potentially mean that this is one of the first Caravan shmups...?????? (no)

Honestly since there's a timer that just stops the game no matter where you are it really doesn't feel like you "win" the game when its over like the crowning domination the game expects you to feel, it's more like a stalemate if anything. Maybe this is a reflection of the eternal corporate battle that large conglomerates fight with one another in late-stage capitalism, where there's no real winner or loser, just perpetual hostility..... (this is also not the case)

Despite being an incredibly petty joke advertisement of a video game, through screenshots and the title of the game you'd honestly think this is an endorsement for Pepsi instead of propaganda against them given that the game has more PEPSI's on screen through the enemies than the sole COKE WINS on the top left corner. At least you can strategically shoot aliens to make the game spell out PEEEEEEEEEE so that's gotta earn this game something.

It really goes to show how much simpler game development was back then that you could just manufacture some doofy romhack of a best-selling mainstream title whipped up by some dude as a joke and nobody bats an eye. Imagine if something like this existed nowadays, where only in shareholder meetings for fuckin mcdonalds or something can you get an elusive copy of MACDONALDRING, a hastily-made hacked version of Elden Ring that replaces your character with an invincible Ronald Mcdonald and changes all the bosses to Burger Kings that die in one hit. actually that sounds rad hold up

I bought this game 16 times for my friends on Steam and my bank locked my card for a week.

Lmao Gaiden, yeah sure, whatever you say. A side story for what, exactly? It’s an arcade shmup! We’re taking a slight detour from our main narrative of “shoot marine animal-themed aliens” to tell you the incredible thrilling tale of ah, someone else shooting more fuckin fish.

Nonetheless, this is the best one so far, and I’m not afraid to admit when I am wrong

Never gotten to properly play through a shooter game in this style before but I think this was a pretty great game to start with. Good entry point for the shmup genre!

idk its kind of hard to write this knowing the person who made this game could very well be reading, so I'm just gonna stop before I embarrass myself. Congrats on making a game!!

why do we always need to shoot the dinosaurs why can't we be friends :(

I feel like the more I play this game the more I like it. I used to hate the mech and treasure hunting levels but I find them quite fun now. The speed stages are obviously the highlight though. Was a fun quick 3 hour stroll down memory lane.
