I'm not really the type to really take much issue with performance and graphics, so while I was able to look past a lot of those issues while playing, I definitely do think the game could have benefited from a bit more development and optimization time before release.
The bones are there though, the gameplay is a lot more engaging than walking around in grass waiting for random encounters, or waiting for a model to just pop up in the overworld like Let's Go or BDSP. It's a huge step forward in terms of making the Pokemon feel like they actually exist in the world and you interacting with them, not just products of random chance. Worth noting that I'm biased in that experience is my favorite part of Pokemon games - the battling is not significantly better, the gym challenges feel like fluff, and while the story is better than the last few generations, I really think Pokemon needs to move on from the format of "you're a small child who trips into this world-saving adventure" sort of story.
Nonetheless it's easy enough to ignore most of that, and I still had a fun time catching all the Pokemon, doing raids, etc. and I look forward to them hopefully improving the experience and releasing DLC

This game fundamentally changed how I look at what games can be (for better or for worse). The first time I ever played an "RPG" and actually felt like I could represent myself in the game's world. I've played it many times over and I feel like every time is at least somewhat novel - sure you'll do the same things in some playthroughs, but the overall context is almost never the same. I'm sure there are other CRPGs from the earlier days of gaming that did all this stuff before. But, playing this, a contemporary game - in a landscape where most big title games are grand hodgepodges of every genre with a battle pass to maximize engagement - was the most refreshing game experience I've ever had
