This is a charming, yet very simple entry in the “Diablo”-like genre. Instead of classes your character build it completely reliant on the equipment you use. So there is no wrong skilling or hard decisions to be made, because everything can be changed with a few mouse clicks. There is also a simple upgrade system for weapons. For every level you gain, you get a gem that can be used to unlock skills in your gear. Gear can be dismantled anytime to regain all spent gems, so there is no wrongdoing here either. While simple, it still offers plenty of possibilities to form a character of your liking. The classic stereotypes like mages, summoners or barbarians can be put together with the right equipment. There are also some nice synergies between some equipment to make it even more efficient.

Despite its simplicity and a shallow hit feedback from enemies, I had quite some fun with Minecraft Dungeons. I couldn’t play it for hours without end, but for shorter sessions it is a nice gap filler. I recommend the complete package with all the DLC because it adds a lot of levels and variety to the mix. The game is rather short otherwise, but the open ended leveling process, highly scalable missions and seasons passes - that are not time-gated! - will give plenty of playtime if you are into grinding stuff out. Just don’t expect a complex beast like Path of Exile or Grim Dawn that offers plenty of replayability and more interesting stuff to experiment with.
