Good but overrated a bit. It feels like after a while the cast doesn't have much to them and they don't really interact enough or have many moments that really connect me to them like previous or later FF games do.

An interesting way to replay the original trilogy of NES MegaMan games but not a replacement for them.

Not quite sure how to put it into words but this game has this sort of Genesis grit to it when it comes to its visuals that I don't really think fits with the original trilogy's art style/aesthetic (not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, just not fitting). Same goes for the music, it's good but like in a "oh this is a neat different take" on these tracks rather than an improvement due to the Genesis's sound. There's also issues with slow-down at certain points in the game.

All of that may sound bad but this is still a pretty cool collection and a neat way to replay all the games if you've played them all like 100 times before and need a way to spice it up. And its special edition of Wily Tower is one of the coolest features in a MegaMan game.

This game is fine (although really easy) outside of the ear-bleeding music. Which honestly would sound nice if the instruments chosen weren't so obnoxious.

Quint is also pretty cool, shame his boss fight sucks

Annoying controls and a new art style that's really ugly. Where's the colors guys lol

One of my favorite mods for a game. The aesthetics and atmosphere are amazing even to this day.

2010

Personally prefer Bro Nier but the father story is cool as well. His design and story is definitely more interesting than the other sad dads he's compared to.

It's sort of like a first person attempt at the RE4 formula while not being anywhere near as good as RE4 or it's remake, still kinda fun. It lacks the replayability of past games and Ethan was fine as a blank self-insert protag in 7 but trying to make him an actual character didn't work at all as he's not very interesting or as captivating as past protagonists.

This port is mostly the reason everyone thinks Sonic Adventure is a broken unplayable mess. Anything cool it does like letting you skip cutscenes, the Cream easter egg, and a playable Metal Sonic is vastly overshadowed by the number of bugs it introduces and the ruined aesthetics.

The most notable thing is the new visuals, especially the new models. They're mostly just the SA2 models with shorter limps. There's nothing wrong with the SA2 models per say, they look great in SA2, but in SA1 they don't fit the art style at all. SA1's models felt like they reflected the colors and style at the time (Sonic's skin color and fur are a good example of this) but the new models here don't match the color palette of the rest of the game, and their fur looking too shiny and plastic (and then you have Super Sonic who's supposed to be shiny and golden but isn't anymore). I also just kinda feel like SA1's models had a "cute" vibe to them opposed to SA2's which went for a more "cooler" vibe, both of these are fine, but I just like the cute vibe of the SA1 models for SA1. Art style reasons aside the new models just look really janky, they weren't really rigged properly so sometimes you just get parts where character expressions look really off. Character models aside there's other downgrades to the visuals that just make the game as a whole look worse and less charming. Worse lighting that's less stylish and moody, missing transparence effects, worse textures, assets and environments are less colorful (Ice Cap literally has all the same textures but with all the color removed from them), whole buildings being changed, and much more.

Another infamous part of this version is the bugs, and there's a lot. The best example of this is that one ramp in Emerald Cost where the collision fucks up and you fall through the floor. There are more glitches like this throughout the game, and it's these glitches have become synonymous with SA1 in general, regardless of if it's DX or not. It's a shame since SA1 was no where near as glitchy and buggy as DX.

This is only version available on modern systems, but the DC conversion mod fixes all of its problems. It lets you keep all the neat additions of DX while fixing bugs and making it more like the Dreamcast version. So I'd definitely recommend that.

If Sega ever does a new port/remaster of SA1 I hope they take into account all of the problems with the DX version's visuals and bugs, but considering how the remaster of Sonic Colors turned out I think I'd rather they leave SA1 along all together.

Just RE:DE but with the option for dual shock controls and a new soundtrack that sounds like the guy making it is fucking a casio keyboard.

It's still RE1 so it's still a great game, but pretty sure later versions like the PS5 release of the og Director's Cut or fan projects patch in dual shock controls, so there really isn't much reason to go back to the version with the worse ost (aside from the guardhouse and saferoom themes those are really good) outside of laughs.

The gameplay was okay, but the atmosphere and soundtrack are where this game really excels

It's good, and you definitely should play it if you like Half Life, but it's no replacement for Half Life. It's gunplay, enemy design (aka reskinned Combine that are more aggressive), aesthetics/atmosphere just aren't as good as the original imo.

Also say whatever you will about og Xen at least it didn't drag on for like 4 hours

Not as interesting as Opposing Forces or og HL1, but not bad by any means

The inventory setup for this game is already awkward enough why do you need to make the shotgun take up two fucking slots
