Kirby kirby kirby thats the name you should know

I'll get around to some of the other spinoff games at later dates but for now this is my kirby ranking, but yea I really wouldn't say any of the mainline games are bad. I also need to replay star allies at some point but I lost my copy like a dummy lol

Family
Family
Using this as a stand in for Kirby Family, a unreleased Japanese exclusive game boy color game so obscure its not even on backloggd as of writing this. and I mean. it's playable. thats about it lol I surprisingly don't have a sewing machine add on for a game boy color so I can't get the full experience this game offers

Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
The game feels good to control and it probably has the best set of copy abilities in the franchise but, other than that this game feels structurally confused, the one way corridors, having to blindly fall around in a new world until you find a map, kirbys adventure's mechanic of losing your copy ability really doesn't fit this game at all imo, it's all annoying and the treasures don't really feel worth going after, I get why some people love this game, but this really wasn't my cup of tea, sorry :(

Kirby's Dream Land
Kirby's Dream Land
the screen crunch and having to play without copy abilities can be a bit of a nuisance but it's a fun short time! not as short as my thoughts on this game tho

17

Kirby's Dream Land 2
Kirby's Dream Land 2
Feels like a kirbys adventure sequel rather than a dream land sequel tbh, but this is still fun! animal buddies are nice, level designs are just as good as adventure, but those rainbow drops towards the final few worlds got really annoying lol

16

Kirby's Adventure
Kirby's Adventure
This game is pretty limited by its controls imo, puffing just kinda stops the flow by having it be bound to the up button on the d-pad rather than the A button, screen size doesn't help either but not much you can do there, other than that though, it's the quintessential kirby game that would be the blueprint of most others to follow

15

Kirby Star Allies
Kirby Star Allies
Probably the easiest kirby game, and level design can be pretty empty but it's still loads of fun

14

Kirby's Dream Buffet
Kirby's Dream Buffet
really fun and cute online multiplayer! Some baffling decisions were made like only 2 player max local player and the minigame portions of the game aren't great overall but still really fun

13

Kirby's Dream Land 3
Kirby's Dream Land 3
definitely my favorite out of the dream land series, like the rest of the series level design is great and controls are better than ever imo, the animal buddies are the best they've ever been here, allowing you to chose from more options was a smart move and varies the gameplay making it tons of fun to play around with, also feels the least cumbersome to fully complete out of the dream land games, although there are a few frustrating moments

12

Kirby's Return to Dream Land
Kirby's Return to Dream Land
Combines kirby super star and kirbys adventures playstyles into one, making for a very good Mashup imo, the variability of combat now paired with the more strict losses of getting hit, platforming and level design ain't bad either and it feels really fun to play

Kirby: Squeak Squad
Kirby: Squeak Squad
Treasure collection makes this game. You have a pretty standard kirby game here but the treasure collection elevates this as one of my favorite kirby games, the rewards are all fun to collect and toy around with, and really satisfying once you start collecting more and more. The way you use the second screen isn't bad either, storing copy abilities is something I'm shocked the series hasn't really revisited.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
what could've been a very standard kirby game turned out excellent because mixing copy abilities to see what you get is so fun to expirement went, sure it could've been refined more but that's just a nitpick. Level design feels more slow and less focused, which isn't a bad thing, it's still a fun game, the titular crystal shards are fun to collect except for a few ones that are absolutely infuriating

9

Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
You lose the sublime graphics of the original game, but honestly? other than that this is a perfect remake imo, fixes the difficulty spike and control issues I had from the original game.

8

3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure
3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure
Crazy how a lagless port that remains faithful to the original game fixes most of my problems with the original!

7

Kirby Triple Deluxe
Kirby Triple Deluxe
Is this game a bit generic? sure. but I think the platforming and controls make up for it. Going into the background and foreground is a sick idea and they have some good puzzles with it, Hypernova is also cool to utilize as well. This game feels the best to 100%, every collectible is easy to spot and doesn't have you guessing if you observe your surroundings, it's just fun! luckily this trait would be carried over to robobot as well, probably the most underrated kirby game imo. Also fun fact! this was the only kirby game I found a HAL room in by myself.

6

Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
A 3d transition 30 years in the making! Such a fun time from beginning to end, the platforming and action is a delight, the puzzles are soild, and the bosses are awesome, sure there could be more copy abilities but I think the evolving process and mouthful modes make up for it in the long run. Really my only issue with the game is that sometimes the waddle missions can be a pain but other than that, this is an amazing 3d kirby experience.

5

Kirby's Epic Yarn
Kirby's Epic Yarn
is this game a breeze? sure, but if everyone can argue that the Souls games and other hard games with it don't need a difficultly meter or the like, opting to have the games difficult as intended, then I don't see the problem with having a game want to be easy, also this game can be a bit of a challenge if you want all those gold medals, really nice platforming, artstyle, and the soundtrack is one of my favorites in the series. Just a comfy ride and I don't see anything wrong with that personally.

4

Kirby: Planet Robobot
Kirby: Planet Robobot
This really feels like a bigger triple deluxe, you have that games awesome background and foreground platforming, with its nice control scheme, add more diverse and unique theming in the levels, a sick as hell robot suit for kirby, and you got this game collectibles are also fun to get as well, one of the best kirby games and one of the best 2d platformers ever

3

Kirby Super Star
Kirby Super Star
I mean this is just a classic, 8 games in one and all of them are a joy to play, fun gimmicks, ideas, platforming, action this really is the complete package for me in terms of kirby games. I've played it for years and years at this point and probably many more to come.

2

Kirby Super Star Ultra
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Takes everything the original SNES game and improves it in every way possible, WHILE adding banger new games to the package!
