another convoluted and deliciously meta story from Remedy that is a blast to play.
the gameplay is well executed but pretty boilerplate, which is to be expected from them at this point, but the meat of the story is superb.
although the writing had a lot of memorable and beautiful moments, there was a minor annoyance for me in Saga and Alan frequently reiterating plot points. i get that it's meant to be a safeguard against the frustrations of a tangled and potentially vague story, but they overdid it a little
either way, a game that's great fun to play and a story that's great fun to untangle
also, kudos for the credits song <3 <3 <3

In the biggest twist of the century, this specific DLC manages to change some of the already established boring combat that's present in Kakarot and miraculously turn it on it's head, making it enjoyable!
They give this heartbreaking story the respect it deserves, adding little details that enhances the original established story.
WHERE WAS THIS CARE AND LOVE FOR THE ACTUAL BASE GAME?!

You would not notice that this installment of the Monkey Island series did not bear the touch of Ron Gilbert. It still retains remnants of his silly, infantile humor, which you are familiar with from the first two games.
I really enjoy the fact that Ron Gilbert somewhat canonized "The Curse Of" by incorporating references to the events of the game in his trilogy.

it's rare that nostalgia bait is so open and constructive about itself, it was refreshing and definitely emotional, especially as a lifelong fan of the series.
the ending was quite badly executed - the abruptness was pretty much expected, but it was not as well thought out as I had hoped - especially with the build-up being, to me, quite a lukewarm puzzling experience, but its underlying sincerity got me quite emotional in the end, enough to make up for the not-great pacing.
if I were to rate the game standing on its own as an isolated gaming experience, it would struggle to get a 3 star rating, but, just like it is for the story, context is everything.
so, a wonderful experience overall.

Guybrush finally finds the Secret of Monkey Island, and it's classic Ron Gilbert. This game is a little more cute than the others, but it's very well polished and funny. The art style is actually great - it really grows on you the more you play it. Make sure you check the scrapbook after you're done, that was the icing on the cake for me.

Fun! RPGs make for a very natural template for a Sims adventure. Having missions and new houses you're working up towards gives you good goals to work towards. There is a lot of grinding, though I imagine this feels natural when taken in hand-held, bite-sized chunks. A good game to sit with and work towards over a long period of time. What is even going on with the words coming out of the main character's mouth.
