The only good thing about this game is how funny it is in co-op. None of the characters are likable, the story is the bad kind of nonsense, and the ideas behind some of the new shooting mechanics are neat, but you spend almost the entire game shooting zombie soldiers with guns who explode into bugs.

I do not like anime, JRPGs, or turn based combat. With this in mind, Persona 5 Royal is my favorite game of all time. The UI is the best in any video game hands down, and makes all the things that would normally bother me about the genre actually fun to do. It's a JRPG that made going through menus an enjoyable part of the game. It's got an incredible visual style, a story filled with lovable characters with problems you can relate to, and want to help them overcome. It's satisfying enough watching each confidant overcome their personal struggles, but translating that into actual affects on the dungeon crawling gameplay is genius. This is a game that everyone should at least give a chance. I went in expecting nothing and walked away with one of the most satisfying experiences I've ever had in a video game.

I enjoyed this game a lot, and I think if I ever plan on revisiting the original Half-Life, it will be through this. It's a more streamlined version of a classic updated to make each environment more distinct than the uniform feeling of the labs in the original. I would have rated this higher, but by the time I got to Xen, I was ready for the game to ramp up to a conclusion that took too long to come. Xen was full of cool ideas, but it almost felt like I finished the game when I jumped through the portal, and then still had to play a second game to get to the ending.
