This game is a better written Life is Strange. It's ironic how a game with a cartoony artstyle is able to tell a more mature story. I still love the campiness of LiS, don't get me wrong but it's undeniable that it's a "teen" game. NitW does everything better. The gameplay consists of just walking but that is to be expected from a game like this. There's also a rouguelite you can play by accessing Mae's computer but I didn't care for it too much. The art direction, soundtrack and story do outshine the gameplay however, enough for me to recommend it over LiS if you're looking to buy either of them.
