Never played this before and I get a happy birthday message from the cutest characters ever when I load it up. I almost start to cry in public because that was the cutest fucking thing a game has ever said to me.

It's a bit easy and I wish it was a bit shorter, but this game kind of rules and you should play it.

This review contains spoilers

Back in the summer of 2013, the internet was cut off from my family. It hadn't been payed in a while because it was very expensive. Paying internet from the biggest providers in Canada fucking blows. So I didn't have internet for the rest of that summer, however I had gotten some video games for my birthday that can certainly pass the time. One of those games was The Orange Box, and as all of you know had Half Life 2 in it.

I didn't ask for TOB at all, I actually asked for Portal 2 only. But a EB Games employee recommended my Mom to buy it because it had the first Portal game on it. So thank you EB Games employee!

Even though I never played the first Half Life at the time, I did know how most of it played out by watching Freeman's Mind by Ross Scott (Personally my favorite Half Life machinima series). Played it on a whim and loving every second of it. But the last time I played it was in 2015 I think, so do I still like it... Yes I do lol.

Though there are a couple of things that are a tad bit annoying to me now. I think some sections in the game last a little too long, like the boat level and the level were you are back at City 17 for first time since the start of the game. And speaking of that level, it feels like the mechanic where you command the resistance troops felt cumbersome. I think one part I remember is when I was dealing with some turrets that had to be activated by tripping a laser, and my troops would block my way and get turned into swiss cheese. In retrospect, I think that's a pretty funny antidote but it was still pretty annoying to go through.

Also why the fuck can you hold 36 shotgun shells?

But everything else though, is far better then first game. The environments you go to are all awesome, I think the beach side level where you have a dune buggy and Ravenholm fucking slap and those two are favorite areas in the whole game. But my favorite level is when I get to take control of the antlions. It's SO fucking fun to watch the antlions kill the Combine soldiers and having them rag doll when the die.

I think one of the highlights of the game is that it's at is best is when to get to just look around with no combat. My favorite example is when you enter The Citadel for the first time and your just looking at the at the architecture and it feels so fucking cool.

But what I think everyone can agree on is the characters are better than the first game. The supporting cast is great and you really give a shit about them. In the first game, the characters were giving you orders on were to go next and it was easy not to care about them. Plus, everyone looked like they came from the same 4 moms or something. Here the dialog between all of them is fantastic and even the citizens you can interact with have really interesting things to say and it keeps the world feeling real.

And the guns are awesome to use.

So I think this was still great from the last time I played it. Maybe not my all time favorite game, and I won't lie it feels over-hyped and that can rise exceptions. But it lived up to it, I had a great time.

Y'know, this game hits so differently when your playing it on headphones. The sound design and music is so much more detailed than I originally thought and that enhanced my enjoyment of the game. I wish the sound chip on the GBA wasn't awful but the sound guys: Yoshitomi Ryoji, Ohsawa Kazuyoshi, and Miyamoto Kyoko made this one of my favorite soundtracks for the GBA.

This was one of the games I played a lot when I was kid and loving it despite not finishing it, I think. It still holds up today which I'm very happy about. Thanks Mom and Dad for buying me this, you made me a very happy camper!

Maybe the shooting is a bit awkward and looking around with the analog stick kind of blows, but this is my new favorite 3D platformer! The art direction and the level design made me feel like I was in a dream I didn't want to wake up from. First world and the third world will stick with me for a long time. These surreal like games is what I crave for.

Plus the music is one banger after another. It has like breakbeat that 5th generation games are known for but feel like it was coming from the Super Nintendo era.

Great shit. Play this game, it rules.

Also, Sony gotta make a deal with Fangamer or whoever to make plushies of Robbit, that shit would sell gang busters.

Best game ever to be based on a biblical story.

As much I love what this game is going for and it's satisfying as a rail shooter, the dialogue is just this:

FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK
PENIS PENIS
PUSSY PUSSY
DICK DICK

This feels like an official fan game sequel to Super Mario World and that's what I really like about it. I'd also say the umbrella is the most psychotic sidekick in a Mario game to date, I'm very impressed.

While I was playing it, it made a lot of sense why this is a pretty decisive game. The movement can get really floaty and trying to make precise movements can fuck your shit up. Which is bad when you're dealing with the levels where Fludd is taken away from you. And the final level before Corona Mountain, Pianta Village can slurp the nut I put into their mother.

However even though at first I was really struggling with it, the world was gripping me with a sense of wonder and amusement that I didn't want to put down the controller. Nintendo has always been great at this, but for me Isle Delfino is where they peaked when it came to mainline Mario hub worlds, even though I really don't like summer. In addition to Delfino, Fludd is my favorite character to come out of Sunshine, mostly because the movement mechanics they allow you to do, which becomes engaging with each new ability they get. Plus their character design is top tier.

The levels in Sunshine are almost all great with levels I'm gonna remember for probably for the rest of my life. The design of which are have a middle ground of abstract to places I can see people live in or visit.

But I can totally see why this game isn't people's cup of tea (that movement can get jank). However, getting past that it's a pretty fun yet challenging game. Even though this is my first time playing it, I got a lot of value in it and I'm pleased this held up without nostalgia blinding me.

Also I have the feeling Scatman John had a influence on this game's soundtrack, don't have any sources on this, it's a vibe I had while playing.

i sat down, i played, i witnessed some of the tightest controls to ever be in a 2D platformer, i played some of the most ball breaking levels i will ever witness, beat it 100%, came buckets.

With a lot of NES games back in the day, this game is super hard and not in the best way. First of all is that you are always moving. While you can slow down, you can't stop, because of that a lot of deaths that are caused by that feel pretty cheap. A lot of first attempts died cause I was being hesitant. I feel like they should've ditched the rail shooter like game play and made the game a isometric shooter instead. That would've made this game a classic, instead of the headache we got here.
