One of, if not, my favorite flash games :-) it's so pretty and fun

Thoroughly unbalanced and difficult, but also their first Tower Defense game so, I get it. Also responsible for the rest of the series, so... honestly cool to go back to and oogle at but it can be skipped :-/

Depression is beating all this games' challenges in one sitting and still thinking it worthy enough to write a Backloggd review for it.

Marking 1 star instead of a half because this app does have some small moments of charm, particularly in the fake AI username choices

I'm marking this as completed despite not having all the skins because some of those objectives are ludicrous and once you unlock the poop skin you don't need any of the other ones.

Very cute and fun :-) a huge love letter to all things Computer OSes!

I am retroactively logging this because I remember that one night I poured extra time into this game to collect every item from the shop and every skin, not knowing what a "Republican" was and who "Trevor the Goth" is, and being deathly afraid of the little infant babies you could spawn to terrorize the buddy. I think I was like 7 or 8 years old.

Holy shit that was so easy up until the final boss that shit kicked my ass so hard. Mario controls weird in this game, but, I love all the work they did to make him close to his Super Mario Bros NES-self. I'd recommend to any Mario fan, especially because it's such a short play (took me like, what, an hour?) But I cheated and used save states so your mileage may vary

Pokémon as an RPG is severely outdated and I know this is a 2008 release but even in that context, on the same system, it lacks certain features other games were already implementing... but goddammit nothing beats that bond you make with your Pokémon! When they buff out an attack and then serve back a O-KO! So satisfying! Can't help but love it :-)

(I played the Steam release with mods to make it like the Dreamcast release and a couple other small, mostly graphical enhancements. You might say it's not pure, but it's the best way to play this game!)

Wow. I loved this game to bits a pieces. For the series first jump into a real 3D game? It was amazing! The graphics, for 1998, are incredible, the controls are... well, this is the best Sonic has probably ever controlled in 3D. Every level is so much fun to go through and find your own path to complete.

It's not perfect... Big the Cat's stages are barely tolerable, and that's once you look in the manual to know how to play them, and the camera is very 1998-3D-platformer-esque (it's clunky and sometimes problematic). And the storytelling could use some work. For some characters, like Big or Knuckles who's stories make you groan in boredom or facepalm in stupidity respectively, there are other character stories who pick up the slack like Gamma's beautiful arc and Sonic's fun and simple journey.

But at the end of the day, I mostly recommend it! I think it's a decent introduction to the 3D Sonic games for anyone, and for any Sonic fans who haven't played this yet, what are you waiting for? But PLEASE play this with an open mind, mostly for the fact that this came out in 1998 on new technology, so yes the cutsccents are rough and the camera is clunky, but these issues weren't exclusive to Sonic at the time, you know?

If you think about this game in the context that it came out in (First original 2D Mario game in 14 years, on a relatively new system) you'll realize really how amazing it is. The controls are tight, the introduction of certain moves from his 3D games feels natural, new power-ups are cool (although a bit gimmicky in the Mega Mushroom's case) and the graphics for the DS are good, and although we may be SO tired of this artstyle for Mario nowadays, by acknowledging this is the first time we saw it you can learn to appreciate how well it fits the series and how nice it looks in general.
