It's certainly more Cuphead. A new isle with a handful of gorgeously animated bosses and a new character, Ms. Chalice to play as. Ms. Chalice has a double jump, a slide, dash mapped onto the parry, and one extra HP which makes a lot of the new bosses more manageable.

The fights themselves are visually spectacular, but often times I felt they were competing with each other to have as much shit flying around on the screen as possible. That is to say, it's as challenging as you will remember Cuphead being so be prepared! Definitely a no-brainer for any fans of the base game.
