Dimps’ first outing into a Sonic game and man does it show. The gameplay feels so stilted compared to 2 or 3. Levels are inoffensive until Egg Base, a very common trope of their games actually. The final boss sucks, its a boss that was either made with no awareness of how sonic moves in the game with the slow start up or with awareness to be malicious.

Honestly the only thing this game has over the other 2 is the chao garden, and even then its extremely bare bones.

19 years since the release of Fusion and off the heels of the less than stellar 2 remake, Dread had big shoes to fill.

Despite playing it incredibly safe, Dread creates an amazingly tense and epic atmosphere, a great challenge, and satisfying puzzles alongside chilling music. I have my gripes, like how 100% items is pointless completion wise, but I have not enjoyed a 2D Metroid game as much as this one.

An extremely rough start to a series I wish I could love more. I usually disagree with the notion that "old rpgs age poorly" but god these games are extremely dated.

i attempted to 100% this game, but for some reason my file got bugged and didn't register 1 of my HP upgrades. Locking me out of a 100%. Attempted to fight Bass but couldn't get him to spawn after 15 mins of random encounters. So definitely won't ever play this game again.
