Extremely confused how I forgot to log this game somehow, but
Mario Odyssey just did not really do it for me. It is in NO capacity a bad game in really any regard at all, but my subjective experience of it was pretty meh and it really just made me miss the wonders of the Galaxy games. I don't want to be too nitpicky about the game because I don't think people would take it very well but there are generally just some parts that I wish the game took a bit more seriously. The game is absolutely beautiful though with a solid soundtrack, although not nearly as memorable or fantastic as the Galaxy soundtrack. Platforming and movement is tight and feels great and there are plenty of fun new mechanics, Odyssey just just not feel nearly as magical to me as many of the other 3D Marios do.

Yeah for sure. I really do think it's a good game but its just impossible for me to not compare to the Galaxy games and it does not feel nearly as special or "magical" as those are I think. Like I said it just doesn't take itself seriously enough, its kind of all over the place thematically and I'm not entirely sure if this is unpopular or not but I really didn't like the vocal songs lol especially the whole final boss sequence I just thought it was kind of silly
very much agreed when it comes to the galaxy remark, also bravo for having epic yarn as a 10. it's underrated af
