I've spent years trying to figure out what the name of this game was - The one with the terrifying intro where your eyes get stabbed that has nothing to do with the actual game. Y'know, the one with the creepy mutant teddy bear things that slowly waddle towards your spaceship? The spaceship that can hop around and go boing? That one. Slamscape. Apparently.

Not sure where I would be today if this game didn't teach me that X stands for X-ray fish. Game changer.

Aw hell yeah. This is what it's all about right here. Don't think I ever beat it but vivid memories of combining red + blue to make purple and such. Where else are you gonna get that kind of education?

Given that there's no image or description for this one, a PC game my mom got from a sketchy retail store for me to play at her boyfriend's house when I was a kid, I'll give my own description:

A big cat hunting simulator that's janky to the point of it being super creepy - Almost feels like a horror game at times. The insane cat breathing sounds as they barrel towards you in a blur of minimal pixels is still ingrained in my brain. If that doesn't jump scare you, your character's blood curling death scream will. Wish I could go back. Not even any YouTube videos of this one out there.

2022

A lot to love here - Super satisfying gameplay, a beautiful art style, and amazing environments that remind me of a Hitman level. The aging concept is cool too, I just wish it, like many other aspects of the game, was explained better. So much of the game is just figuring stuff out for yourself and it can get really frustrating considering how unforgiving it all is.

2016

Playing this after Eternal, I wasn't sure how it would hold up. After finishing, I can say that while Eternal is good, DOOM 2016 is much better. Took me a couple levels to get into it but once I did I was completely hooked. Doesn't overstay its welcome, was exactly what I was looking for with the perfect balance of shooty shoot and exploration. Definitely could've used more variety in Glory Kills but whatcha gonna do.

I don't care about the multiplayer but the bit I played of it seemed inoffensive enough.

After being super disappointed by the first Little Nightmares, I found myself really loving this one. Genuinely scared me at one point, probably the first game since Resident Evil 7 to do that - The atmosphere and sound design are just top notch. The controls are still super clunky/frustrating and the first 3 chapters are definitely a league above the latter 2 but I can definitely say I'm looking forward to the third game.

Not quite as terrible as some people make it out to be but certainly not good. Absolutely unapologetic with how much of a Dead Space clone it is. There were parts when I didn't mind the combat and thought the world was cool - Then I got to the stealth monster part of the game. Then that part kept going and going and the game is never really tolerable after that.

Beyond all this, it's way too easy, even on the hardest difficulty. Once you fully understand how the combat works it's absolutely trivial. Even fighting multiple enemies at once, if you turn your back to one horrifying flesh-eating monster more often than not he'll likely kindly wait his turn for you to beat him to death next while you take your time with his friend. If you made a drinking game out of every time you have to slowly slide through a narrow pathway you'd be dead in the first hour.

Really makes you feel like you're playing an Ubisoft game

It's definitely good, but I had high hopes and they were certainly let down. The main story is good once the boring first act finally lets up - There's plenty of great emotional moments and Kraven is absolutely fantastic, every scene he's in is elevated. But Venom was a big disappointment and just felt rushed. It's hard to have much of an emotional attachment to Harry when he wasn't even in the first game.

The biggest disappointment though is the open world - The side missions range from mundane to awful and any post-game content/features are basically non-existant. The map is twice as big but honestly feels smaller than the first game given how little there is to do.

There's a good co-op game buried deep, deep in here, but god do they try their best to keep you from discovering it. WHY is playing this game with friends, especially the story, so damn overcomplicated? I can't imagine what the other games in the series are like if this is considered the most accessible, it feels like there are 8000 different mechanics to keep track of and none of them are too satisfying other than the glowing bugs that lead you to your destination.

You would think combat would be the highlight given fighting these monsters is the whole point but it really all feels so weightless - I understand the nature of the game is that every major enemy is a damage sponge but your weapons feel like they may as well be toothpicks.

Everything is made out to be as complicated as possible and repetitive. There's incredible variety in the visual design of the monsters but the fights themselves are so formulaic they may as well all be the same thing after a certain point. There is fun to be had doing a hunt with a friend and I see the appeal of collecting materials to get all the weapons/armor sets, but it's nowhere close to worth it for me.

No matter what I say, never let me buy another one of these things. Nearly the same exact thing as 2K22 with all of the same problems (and even some new ones). Overall it's marginally better at best. Let's start with the improvements:

- Commentary is the best it's ever been. There's still flaws, but this is probably the first time in series history where I'd say it's reached a level of being acceptable
- The timed kickout minigame is the perfect balance of challenging but fair, versus last year's shitty default button mashing
- MyGM has some more depth to it (but still doesn't appeal to me whatsoever)

Yeah that's about it. And the bad? The worst point has always been an issue, especially last year, but I think the refs are the worst they've ever been. Absolutely abysmal AI, they'll run around the ring in a circle before starting a pin count. If it's a tag match forget it, the pin is getting broken up before the ref even realizes what's happening.

They finally came up with a good idea for Showcase mode, fighting against the same person repeatedly instead of playing as the same person repeatedly, and they absolutely ruin it by including multiple MULTI-MINUTE-long real match cutscenes into most of the matches. I want to fucking play the game not actually watch wrestling.

MyFaction continues to just be a shitty desperate-for-microtransaction who-could-give-a-fuck grind mode. Anyone who cares enough about this thing to spend real life money on it should be shot, I don't care if you're a billionaire.

MyRise goes back to its shitty roots with a linear main story instead of last year's fun but aimless approach. There's still side missions but it all feels pointless in the end. The male story is the same story they've been telling every year for half a decade. The female story is much, much worse, absolutely brutal to get through and the unskippable cutscenes are just rubbing it in.

These games exist to make goofy characters to fight your friends with, and it's great for that. If you have a friend to play with, great, go for it. If not, don't even think about it.

The only good thing to come out of baseball being invented

I do not care about football. I ESPECIALLY did not care about football at age 8 or so when I would play the shit out of this. Therefore, this is by far the best football game of all time.

I went into this excited to just relax with a fun and creative platformer. But this thing is an absolute chore to get through, just boring as hell. The LittleBigPlanet series is what it is because of its creativity. Sackboy's Big Adventure is just every 3D platformer you've ever played before but worse. The story is obnoxious even for a kids game, the controls are unresponsive/floaty, and there's no sense of depth perception which is essential for a 3D platformer. The only thing it has going for it are the 5 licensed music levels, which are pretty cool and worth playing a couple times. Everything else ranges from monotonous to straight up mind numbing.

Definitely the hardest bosses in the game, some of which due to being top notch quality and some due to just being pure cheap bullshit. Regardless, the snowy areas are cool and having humanoid rat enemies feels so unique that I made sure to try it based on that alone. Just like the main game, I really don't get why they even bother with the snooze-fest story.
