My Childhood.

This is not going to stop me from criticizing it.

No other platformer is gonna give you a first time like Super Mario Galaxy.
This is what i like to think when speaking of this game. The atmosphere , the Music. All of this works in a way that you get captured and it's beatiful. Usually platformers are quick , they're just meant to be fun to play , but Galaxy is an experience. The beauty of the deep space and the unknown is captured really well in this game.
Level design , as always , is great and tries new ways of presenting mechanics and new obstacles everytime. Ideas after the other are constantly thrown at you.
It uses the same formula like the other Mario titles. You collect stars in a level and you advance , with the exception that in Galaxy there isn't an open map to explore. Instead every star is tied to a specific mission in that area , transforming them into a sort of Flagpole at the end of a level.
The game makes great use of the wii mote , feeling really interactive and catchy to play with.
The real problems lies with Mario's movement , wich is the weakest in the entire Mario 3D saga to me. It's really slow and every move feels so easy and unsatisfyang to perform. The Power Ups , except for the flowers , are just underused or unfun to play with. Seriously as a kid i tried to find any way possible for not using the spring mushroom.
Prankster comets feels a lot like repeated mssion with a twist that really doesn't change much at all if not for a small increase in difficulty. Purple comets were actually good instead.

All in all . like i said before , the game gives you a beatiful first time. BUT as a platformer it needs to be replayable and , the more i play this game , the number of cracks i see increases in a game that everyone just think it's perfect.
