This is a pleasant and faithful adaptation of the Gears of War series. It is amusing to see staples of the main series in a new light. The Tactics/RPG elements are grounded enough to fit in context with the Gears universe. It is fun to unlock loot after every mission and test each class/skill. Jack was introduced to the squad during the Xbox release and similar to Gears 5, his abilities are game-changing. I can't imagine playing without him.

While I was fond of this game, there are design choices that keep it from being great. Most notable is the repetitive mission structure. The missions (minus boss fights) and settings mostly feel the same. Even worse, you are required to do extra missions to advance the story, which drags the game out. This issue is compounded by the low amount of experience you gain. You are given an extensive skill tree, but will only acquire a few skills by the time you beat the game. Once beaten, you can unlock Supreme loot and experiment by resetting skill trees at will, but the repetition essentially kills this game's replay value.

This game was in my backlog for years, and I’m happy to have finally played it. It's concept was mostly executed well. I often thought about it when I wasn't playing, but I was burned-out after completion. One day, I could see myself returning to try a higher difficulty.

I got really bad Road Work RNG during my casual playthrough.

Sonic 3 is good, sonic and knuckles is good, however sonic 3 and knuckles as a complete game is the epitome of sega genesis era gaming. Multiple pathways multiple characters with different abilities even today I find new goodies I didn’t see before.

Great game, one of the best pokemon games ever made, i freaking love the sounds and musics from this game

Glitchy, every level is the same skin, and the minigames are fluff. Worst Paw Patrol game.

This was a nice surprise. Very funny with a surprisingly enjoyable story. I really liked how the team felt like they were growing as the story went on and how that was even reflected in gameplay by them automatically doing things you'd have to directly ask them too earlier in the story. The gameplay is nothing incredible but its fun enough that I was never bothered by it, and the huddle mechanic was really neat (although feel like it' should of occured more often) But the game isnt perfect. For one - the amount of dialogue in this game is insane when roaming the levels especially considering how well its done and how funny it can be, the problem is that theres just so much of it in each level that characters are getting constantly cut off. Second of all- some of the levels just go on way too long and makes the game feel a bit more bloaty than needed. Other than that, this was one of the most surprising and charming games i've played in recent memory and I simply wouldn't feel right giving it any less than five stars.

96/100

In many ways this game is a warm bath of cozy gameplay. From its cute and detailed pixel art style and its soothing music, thats a great start but to have a game tell so much story with barely any dialogue to carry it is great. In this game you unpack a series of boxes, putting items away in relevant places and sorting out each move the main character makes from place to place.

As you go along, there's certain items that carry along with wear, tear and repair, certain items that hint and later outright weave a tale about the main characters hobbies, career, love life and more. You get the feeling of a whole live lived and as each move arrives, you wonder what's been added, what's changed and why and it feels incredibly rewarding. Its a charm.

The game isn't without its pitfalls though. One is item recognition. Sometimes the game can be incredibly picky in where it wants certain items. Sometimes this is fine as its story related (like a certain awkward photo...). Other times it feels arbitrary and you can occasionally be one item off moving along with little clue as to why. Its also difficult to sometimes get what an item is supposed to be. I wish the game had a little way to just quickly say what items are as that would solve some of the item location confusion.

Finally I have to mention the price. I get this is a controversial topic but the content here is 'just' not quite enough and while its a lovely experience, its not quite a £20 experience. I get that feels a bit on the mean side but I can probably say if I did buy on full price vs getting it on games pass, im not sure I would feel quite as charitable towards it as I do. £12-14? I would consider that a more reasonable pricepoint for whats offered here. £20? Pushing it a little over the line.

That said, if pricing isnt an issue for you and you just want the gaming equivalent of a nice hot scented bubble bath then this is perfect.

This game feels nostalgic for me and not in a totally good way. It very much feels like one of those dime a dozen ps2 licensed games you'd find slung all over the place years ago. Sure theres some fun to be had here but theres so many caveats and bullet points to the point where you dont really want to bother.

Sure theres a wide open map but it feels so lifeless and empty. Sure theres a wide range of playable characters but most are really interchangable outside of the odd exploration moment. Sure theres combat but its so stiff and clumsy, where you'll spend most of your time just mashing the basic attack as the strong attacks take too long and just invite damage.

Add in the usual canned dialogue whenever you so much as do a hop and add in some grindy cash/map mechanics and you've got a game that had all the potential but none of the results. A shame.

Sidenote: The pizza delivery minigame has 'THAT' music that makes me go 'PIZZA. PASTA. PUT IT IN A BOX. DELIVER IT TO MY HOUSE AND PUT IT ON MY...' before I remember im playing a kids game and I should stop being so horrible.

Absolutely nailed it as a tribute to both Donkey Kong Country and top down Zelda, phenomenal level design and the overworld puzzles were actually fun too. The music ruled. Honestly my only problem with this game is the Impossible Lair itself, which was kind of a miserable slog even with every single bee.

This is one of those games that on paper sounds really fun but when it comes to actually playing, isnt anywhere as interesting as the concept would have you believe. Its a very simple setup. See spider, kill spider. Sure theres a heap of weapons to help you do this but most of them just are pretty dull and theres too much of the same sorts of weapon so half the time you're just replacing old stuff for something visually wackier or denser.

The level by level progression isnt all that interesting either. Each level has a set number of spiders to kill, the more spiders you kill, the more doors unlock. Around each level you'll find upgrades, bonuses, weapons and mini-missions (kill x number of spiders with fire, kill 2 at once with a shotgun, smash x number of windows etc).... All the levels start off pretty fun but there comes a point EVERY single time where you go from careful searching to just smashing anything in sight and hoping for the best to find that one last spider to unlock the next part. Its tedious and dull.
