An approachable shmup that still gets punishingly difficult towards the end, but doesn't feel cheap. Fun powerup system, and anovel and vibrant aesthetic.
Lots of password-based secrets and cheats, and I used the high-risk Arcade Mode password (makirin) to make more of the playing field visible.
Started on Analogue Duo with a 2.4GHz 8bitdo Neo Geo controller, but hit a wall on level 8; switched to the TurboDuo and nailed it in one.

Still fun and gripping, but combat and story were weaker than the other Kiwami engine games, lacking the same polish. Majima Saga was a nice addition.
Short and sweet. Save states help. Dunno the strategy for the chainsaw boss so brute forced that.
