pretty much a linear improvement on persona 5. all the new content builds off of what the vanilla game did right and addresses its shortcomings. maruki is easily one of my favorite persona characters now.

people mostly talk about this game’s story, but like, the gameplay is fucking great too and i love all the little tweaks royal has. i know some have criticized the changes for making an already easy game even easier, but i for one love how you can just totally break this game with a little effort. that’s always been one of my favorite things about megami tensei in general. the new emphasis on technicals, gun attacks, ailments as well as the addition of showtime attacks (potential references to Tokyo Mirage Sessions! another game i fucking love lmao) make the gameplay far more exciting
