God of War tells a really compelling father/son story. The journey they go on itself isn't anything special but the dynamic between the two was genuinely interesting.

Minor gripes mostly around open world mechanics such as the ravens not having a rewarding payoff other than a PS trophy and also the same dang ogre but re-skinned a dozen times passed off as a boss encounter. But the few "real" boss encounters absolutely whip ass and more than make up for the comparatively dull mini-bosses.

Also, the Valkyrie end-game was a fun combat challenge aside from the absolute grind-fest that was Niflheim/Muspelheim that's required to finish the questline.
