thank you! need to play this game yet
The Sims?
no the sims bc theres a char creator and is less about taking care of a character that already exists etc. i thought about it tho!
This is a very interesting list idea!
I can think of a few games that might fit the concept.
>Roommania #203 (and its sequel New Roommania: Porori Seishun). It was referred to as an "intervention simulator" where you take the role of God and try to help a bored student's life more meaningful. The game takes place entirely in their apartment and rather than directly control them, you throw ping pong balls at different objects to get his attention, leading him towards activities that can better his life.
>Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. Oddly similar to Roommania, a sidescroller/point-and-click adventure where you use a slingshot to guide you towards various hotspots. You don't have direct control over Pac-Man and completing tasks often depends on affecting his mood.
>Wonder Project J & Wonder Project J2. Life sim/adventure games where you guide and teach robot children. As with the other games, you don't have direct control over the main characters. While you can point and click to move them around, they don't always listen.
>Ganbare Neo Poke-Kun. A more straightforward Tamagotchi-esque game where you "raise" a little game developer dude. If you do well, he makes minigames for you to play.
>Seaman. The BEST Tamagotchi.

thank you for the recs!! added!!
I feel like Contact for the DS might fit in here. It's built around this really odd system where you interact with 2 different characters, one on the top screen (who talks to you directly, breaking the 4th wall) and one on the bottom screen. You control the character on the bottom screen, although they also act semi-autonomously in many ways (such as all battles being automated / not player controlled), and the upper screen character clearly acknowledges you as a 3rd party "middle man" interfacing between the two of them, and wants to keep you a secret from the bottom screen character. It doesn't have the Tamagotchi-like metrics management component, but the mechanics do create this very strong alienation effect that's constantly reinforcing that you, the player, are a separate entity from the character on screen.
contact is one of the games im interested in playing, but mostly for the people working on it, i knew nothing about it, very cool!!
Ooh another one I almost forgot about: "Growing My Grandpa!"
Basically a creepy horror tamagotchi where you discover a strange entity in your basement who can mimic any person, and try to "grow" them into a copy of your dead grandfather.
