this one owns, a big map that understands it's gotta use that size for something, mixing fields and city really well. had a really good moment i think of all the time where i ran up to a grate and tried to press the usual B button on xbox for opening doors and it didn't work, because the grate was low and you had to press A to kick it open. miss when assassin's creed was tied to body positions to allow moments like that.

this one feels like everything bad about assassin's creed lumped together. it tries to rush through character building and dialogue and therefore totally fails to let you connect with anyone while the city is just too big and full of so much stuff that's incredibly pointless. you have a big fatal duel with your mentor (who's been onscreen for maximum ten minutes and only calls you 'pisspot') and it just cuts past any sort of fallout from that and he's never mentioned again.

this game is so good. the movement and camera controls are incredible for building atmosphere, and the fixed camera makes me miss when games used fix camera so much. the amount of times it cuts to a new angle to focus on a scary ghost walking down a different hallway is incredible and it works every time.
