The gameplay in Unicorn Overlord is addicting as hell. Probably my favorite game of this type gameplay wise. The story was okay but I expected a bit more coming off of 13 Sentinels. I enjoyed the character interactions, and I came away loving quite a few of them. Vanillaware does it again.
"I been here since the beginning, and I still don't know what the hell's goin' on."
The music in this was phenomenal and honestly eclipsed Remake for me. The funniest thing though is my favorite song came from a side quest.
The combat was much better and honestly fun as hell. I honestly didn't really like the exploration bits much and missed the more chapter structure of Remake. I may be in the minority on that though. It's a bit hard to review the story without getting into spoilers so I'll just say that I enjoyed it for the most part. There were a couple things that I didn't like but I'm willingly to see what happens with them in the 3rd game.
I had a lot of fun with the minigames in this though and I fucking love Queen's Blood. I need more of that!
Oh, and this solidified Barret as my favorite party member.

"You'll be... my living legacy. My honor... my dreams...they're yours now."
From a gameplay standpoint, it was a bit of a slog to get through but not the worst thing I've ever played by any means. I was mainly annoyed by how many stoppages were put in my way while trying to progress the story.
It was nice getting to learn more background about Zack and Sephiroth specifically. The story itself felt a bit disjointed and at times I felt lost its focus. However, I think it stuck the landing in the most important bits. The ending of the game was amazing honestly. Seeing that moment come to fruition genuinely rocked me.
