One of the best stealth sandbox games of all time. Wraps up one of the best trilogies in gaming into a vast, beautifully collected package. Having all of the trilogy rolled into a single game is convenient and allows to experience this trilogy to its fullest potential. Must play.

Overhated! This game is actually pretty fun. The fucked car physics made it so fun and I think the tone and story are actually pretty effective. The true catalyst for this game failing is releasing around the same time as Grand Theft Auto V.

An improvement over the original in every single way. The story is stylish and gripping, the gameplay is visceral and the music oozes psycho-styllish vibes.

The multiplayer is pretty fun, the zombies is fine but the campaign is terrible. It has so many good ideas, themes and philosophies but instead of using them, they opt to place them as backgrounds to a generic, convoluted story.

Amazing story. This on hardest difficulty makes Halo 2 Legendary shed a tear.

I understand its influence but this is just not scary. It's boring and monotonous at times and is pretty much carried by an ok story.

The best content to ever come out of this franchise. Telltale's writing and design peaked with this game and I'm forever pained by Season 2 never coming into fruition.

2014

The scariest thing I have ever experienced in any media. Fuck Konami.

This was my third time going through this game. What I can say from the heart is: NieR: Automata has some of the best themes, philosophies and music in any videogame ever. However, the gameplay at times struggles to live up to the profoundness of the game's ideas and story.

The themes of humanity, existence, death, and a future to be dreaded are all thoroughly explored with multiple allusions to famous philosophers and narrative knots that tie every loose end together. This game is so profound, I would argue it's one of the strongest cases for not only videogames being art, but also something to be analyzed and studied thoroughly. Not much detail on the music except that it is astounding, with not a single track sounding bad or not fitting the world.

The art design and world are all fascinating to gaze at, but not exactly gripping to explore. The gameplay is passable and at times really shines, but there's those few gapes in design and monotonous combat that bring the experience down, even if it is by the smallest margin.

NieR: Automata is a crowning achievement in storytelling and themes. The gameplay is passable and sometimes quite enjoyable, but struggles to be as profound and interconnected as the game's masterful story.

Currently a 10 but sometimes a 2 but also can be a 5 sometimes.

This is the most difficult game to review/rate I have ever played. It's amazing but it's also godawful. As a game, it's damn near flawless, as a Metal Gear Solid game it ruined so many things.

Pointless waste of time developed by the human incarnation of pretentiousness.
