Building up the boosts by drifting, it’s a great mechanic reminiscent of the Ridge Racer series, which I love. Where this game fails is the flat visuals. It’s too clean and lacking in character. It’s not cartoony, or stylish, it’s like a corporate training video assets racing game. Wish there were some night time tracks as well. The brightness is overwhelming especially because I like to play before bed.

The cute em up I’ve been waiting for! Love how playing different characters switches up the gameplay. Art style is fantastic, enemy design and variety is excellent. I do get tired of collecting the lanterns though. Would’ve loved to see some actual 3D levels like Rainbow Cotton, not just for lantern collecting segments

Great level and enemy variety. Thoughtful, satisfying weapons and mechanics. Fluid gameplay, awesomely unique art style and graphics. Doesn’t take itself seriously while delivering a fun, colourful experience. Unfortunately the music lacks character and memorability. It’s just kind of there to support the gameplay, but doesn’t fit the wonky, cartoony, psychedelic world they’ve built. No complaints with the SFX and voiceovers though!

Every puzzle game should have an option for dark mode. Playing these games before bed would be nice, but it’s not ideal when it’s always a daytime theme. Other than that, I love the cute sumo character and cozy art style. The trilogy is a gem for the handheld, making great use of the 3D feature. Every time I think about selling my New 3DS XL, the Pushmo trilogy pulls me back in

One of the merits of Tetris is the ability to practice being in the flow state. Tetris Effect elevates this idea with sights and sounds that immerses your mind. Much like slipping into a dream while asleep, Tetris Effect can take attention away from everything else going on in life and take you on a journey, shifting through cosmic states, dropping and obliterating blocks that can represent anything. Naturally, Tetris games tend to bring out my competitive side, but Tetris Effect reminds me to just enjoy the ride and I appreciate that a lot.

So funny when you knock someone out and they stumble back and forth with that slipping sound effect

Right before the pandemic I got a 2DS XL. Soon after I went to a pawn shop and found a loose cart of this for $5. It had some light chew marks on it. Whether from a child or a pet I'm not sure, but it worked perfectly! I enjoyed my time with it, but for some reason it wasn't a game that I picked up often. I sold the cart eventually when I decided to not keep loose carts anymore.

The mages are so funny when they die. They just "ahg" and gently fall on their backs as if falling onto a cushy mattress. I love how the crossbow can pierce through multiple enemies and killing multiple marshmallow mages with one arrow feels refreshing. As someone that has usually steered away from horror movies and video games this pushed that threshold for me. Guess I'm a little less sensitive to dark, creepy, jumpy themes now, which I think is a good thing. I appreciate the variety of enemies and levels, the crisp retro 3d look works really well with the fast paced movement. Upon completion, I have started playing the recently released HD update at a harder difficulty. Very cool that they've released a free update that changes up the look of the game.

I like the 'Penetrator' submachine gun because you can double fist them and set mofos ablaze

This was my introduction to the 40k universe. Reminded me of Mad Max and Dune. The space gothic themes in chonky pixel glory is something I didn’t know was missing from my life. Pink Horrors are kinda cute! I haven’t really played an FPS since the OG Xbox days, but this game somehow felt familiar to Halo CE especially jumping and grenade throwing. The beginning was very exhilarating, but the further I progressed the more I dragged my feet, mainly due to repetitiveness.

Easily the best game in the DS library. My only gripe is that there are no options to either mute or turn down the awfully limited and predictable music. I absolutely love the pixel art, the colour palettes and designs are beautiful. I own the Steam port, but the DS version is the original and the best. It’s painfully obvious that the game was developed for the DS then ported to other systems. Although it’s a good thing that other ports exist, the charm does not translate. Apparently they’ve implemented rebalancing for subsequent releases, but I didn’t feel that it was necessary nor have I noticed the “improvements.” Also the game studio is called “Capybara Games,” literally the best name and logo for a game company ever. Every time I boot it up and see the 3 Capys I :)

Why shoot guns when you can throw guns? I like this game a lot but it stresses me tf out

Best official Tony Hawk game due to variety of levels, movesets and overall feel. I play it on the Vita with 60fps hack
