Pulls RE back from the brink of destruction by reigning in the scale and going back to the elements of the franchise that made it so beloved in the first place. The atmosphere is as potent as the strongest entries in the franchise, and the story is the closest thing to "good" any of the games have had in a minute. Falters a bit in the last act with repetitive environments and an over-emphasis on the combat, but I can't judge it too harshly. A top 3 RE game for me, no question.
