pretty big fan of castlevania but i'm surprised i didn't play this game sooner. its essentially a remake of the first castlevania but with better graphics, controls, and soundtrack. game was fairly short but i still had a good time playing through this. i personally would say super castlevania 4 is a better remake of the first castlevania but this one is definitely worth a playthrough. also the soundtrack for this is stellar (expected for castlevania games but still worth mentioning)

Pretty cool atmosphere and aesthetics but i didn't enjoy playing this one. The combat was alright to me, nothing ground breaking. The lack of a block button caught me off guard since i'm used to games of this style having that and I don't think it's an age thing either because plenty games from that era like Ninja Gaiden, and games before that, had blocking in it. The story felt pretty barebones as well, all I got out of it was Dante is the son of a strong demon named Sparda, and Trish is a clone of his mother? something like that idk. Also the item store/leveling system prices are WAY too steep. I pretty much beat the game without buying much upgrades besides lives and health since the moves way too overpriced. I think if Capcom were to give this game the Resident Evil treatment and remade them completely, I think it would fare better.

What started off as a buggy/unfinished mess slowly became one of my favorite Street Fighters through years of updates.
