For almost two decades I wished Blizzard never cancelled this game. As a huge fan of LucasArts, AdventureSoft and especially the Warcraft RTS games this game would have been a wish come true. But Blizzard thought the quality would not meet their high standards but couldn't invest more money. So they ditched it in 1998. Maybe the golden era for Point and click adventure was over anyways. I gave up my hopes. Almost 12 years later video material came up on youtube from this Russian guy MAN-Biker who claims he got his hands on the unfinished pre-alpha. Boy, was I excited. It looked nice, the animation was highly detailed and the cutscenes looked like a great Sunday morning cartoon. Despite all the pleading and begging of the community, he said he would never release the files he had. I gave up all hope again, unsuspecting that it would take another 3-4 years for the version to end up on the internet. I downloaded it but somehow the hype was gone. Now in 2022 I finally finished Warcraft Adventures and I must say: It is clunky, the cutscenes aren't synced with the audio and it appears some parts are missing. Like this, it is a shame of a game. But playing it with its cancellation in mind, more like a trip to the museum, it has its charm. It is very outdated but it makes you think that if they put just a bit more work into it and polished it this could have been an awesome game in the 90s. The humour is great and I think it looks great still today. As a Warcraft fan, you really should consider catching up on this piece of gaming history. Otherwise, just skip through a long-play when you are interested or ditch it completely.
