SMT returns with Shin Megami Tensei V, in another world of ruins in need of solitary.

First off, this game is beautiful. Despite the switch's hardware, landscapes are filled with dreary and bright atmospheres, with demons roaming these forgotten lands. The music is great too, and is more rhythmic than previous entries.

The story is what falls short for me. It feels so basic, and character motivations can come out of nowhere. I remember so much about this game, but the story just didn't add up to anything.

Combat in this game is so good. The essence system allows for much more stat management, allowing you to create some real strong demons. It's interesting to see the buff/debuff system change, but I don't dislike it.

SMT V is a very atmospheric game, but falls short at the plot. If you're a fan of the series, you'll have a good time with this one.
