SPYRO THE DRAGON!!! :D
(I prefer the first two entries to this one but it's still an amazing game that rounds out the trilogy nicely and shares the great soundtrack and art style of the first two games. Only gripe here would be the attrocious skateboard levels that detract from the fun core gameplay and dragonfly levels in addition to your usual flight levels which I found to be a great deal easier here. The only reason the skateboard levels don't bring this down half a star is that they can be cheesed heavily with glitches especially the last one, man am I glad I didn't have to do that one legitimately that would have taken forever and it wasn't even fun at that point, but the rest of the game is phenomenal and the animal buddy levels are fantastic, love this game.)

What is there to say that hasn't alreasy been said about Mario Paint? It's full of charm and whimsy, and you're given a wide variety of tools at your disposal from musical engineering to art and animation to pixel layouts to fly swatting of all things. Bring along a SNES Mouse and Mousepad and have some fun by yourself or taking turns with family/friends, and make sure to soak up the quirky psychedelic 16bit tunes, especially that funky save robot theme. The only shame is that this game still hasn't been given a proper sequel here in the West, and no spirtual successors like the Super Mario Maker series don't count, as charming as those games are in their own right.

A great game, perhaps a bit on the easy side, especially when compared to the absolute brutality on the series from which it spun off, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's a fun romp through and through, I wish the plot were a bit more fleshed out, but I'm certainly not complaining, gameplay and music wise this one is a treat.

1990

Highly underrated gem of the 8bit era, definitely not for everyone, but I'd put it up there with the likes of Blaster Master as far as games that successfully merge genres, and it has a nice difficulty to it, plus I love the soundtrack.

If you like arcade styled fishing games it doesn’t get any better than this, especially if you have yourself a Dreamcast Fishing Controller, but even with the regular controller this one is a blast, not too much in the content department but what is here is an absolute treat, such a goofy idea and very over the top but it’s a part of Sega History and a damn good one at that, and it’s one of the few Dreamcast games that’s still fairly cheap to pick up, I also found it to be more enjoyable than Bass Fishing 1, but it’s a toss up between this one and Bass Fishing 2.

What an oddly entrancing game. Most of the design choices made here are so weird and bogus and frustrating but for an early roguelike it definitely gets a lot of things right, this one sucked me in for hours because even though it wasn’t anything sensational it just motivated me to keep going somehow, and the music is alright I suppose, and the visuals are perfectly serviceable for a game of its time. Your mileage may vary with this one but I enjoyed it a fair bit.

This game greatly surpassed my expectations. First of all the soundtrack is amazing it fits the game perfectly to a tee, and the visuals are charming and unique enough to set it apart from the dozens of collectathon platform era of its era. The gameplay is well balanced and employs a fair mix of platforming prowess and light puzzle elements in addition to some variety with racing and combat here and there, the worlds are varied and polished. My only slight gripes would be the atrocious camera characteristic of many early 3D platformers, and maaayyybe the controls but after a while you get used to it and it makes sense that Rocket would be slippery being that he’s well on wheels so to speak. Also the ending isn’t the best especially when you go out of your way to get all the tickets I wish there was a bit more pomp and circumstance, and the comic sans font employed throughout the game made me chuckle at a few points but I suppose it fits the circus-y vibe of the game. All around a fun time, it wasn’t too short but it didn’t overstay its welcome either, a must play

This game chugs absolute balls it is just atrocious, I tried so hard to love it and it has the potential to be so much better than it is, the difficulty is unbalanced, the gameplay is boring and repetitive, it’s lacking in the audio visual department when compared to any other licensed gba game and it’s just disappointing. No it’s not the worst game ever, nor is it the worst dragon ball game ever, but it’s just sad dude. The sequel I will say improves upon its predecessor in almost every way, still not perfect but if you’re a dbz fan looking for a fun time on gba maybe check that game out instead, or dragon ball advanced adventure which is in my opinion, the series best entry on the platform.

A truly phenomenal 16 bit platformer with a nice difficulty curve, bright and charming visuals, and a kickin’ 90s soundtrack, what more is there to say, if you haven’t played Ristar, you’re missing out,, good luck against the final boss your first time through ;))

perfectly serviceable genesis shmup, you can definitely do better, but you can also do a lot worse.
