I was not expecting that the best horror game I'd play in 2023 would be an RPG Maker hentai game. But calling Abaddon just an H-game is doing it a disservice. It offers a faithful recreation of the NES aesthetics and prototypical survival horror that Sweet Home, its clear inspiration, impressed Japanese players with in its time.

Yet Abaddon does not mire itself in nostalgia enough to cause frustration. True, the encounter rate is high (if you're fine with Dragon Quest, you'll be fine with this), and I would advise against using only one save file. But it never feels stiff.

Abaddon is survival horror RPG kino. It does proud the Resident Evil brand of exploration, simple puzzle-solving and horrifying encounters. It's tense, exciting, and thoroughly enjoyable. Not only that, it boasts a decent story with likeable characters.

This would be a great game even without its hentai elements. However, that does not mean its sexual content detracts from the game at all - quite the opposite. Sex is used to great effect in both its fearsome and romantic contexts: there are scenes the faint of heart would not enjoy, while others would warm that very same heart.

I rarely replay games now, unless they're from my childhood. Abaddon is a game I'll definitely go through again, because there's so much to it. Highly recommended to RPG fans, horror fans, retro fans and perverts.

a neat little game! i've only played through one-ish or so routes, but i'd like to come back to do other ones in the future! it can get a little repetitive and confusing, however.

Had some potential. Being a bl and a straight vn at the same time is quite uncommon for a japanese vn and seemed like a fun cheap horror vn but.
that fucking encounter rate. Only thing I hate more than a bad story is bad encounter rates. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO WALK 5 TILES WITHOUT ENCOUNTERING A GODDAMN SKELETON
