This was a great improvement over the first game which was already very good itself. The game really treats you like you have already played the first one so it very quickly starts adding more unit types and complex mechanics so the challenge is much greater (even on casual, I was fighting for my life in the last few stages). Having more diverse level design and objectives is a great thing in a game like this and kept me hooked plaything through the 34 mission campaign, which is also much longer than the original. You also get to play as the COs from the other armies for lots of the game, plus there are more additions so you have some fun different playstyles. The remake is very good and I love the art design of the COs and the map (I still don't like the battle animations though).
really nice improvement on the last game. changing COs frequently does so much for the game, especially compared to the first game where it was so hard to not just pick max. I kind of wish there were more new units, but it speaks to how well thought out the existing units are that there wasn't much room for more
For the most part, a great turn based strategy game that I enjoyed immensely and couldn't get enough of. But there were times it felt like work. In that I should have been getting paid for that shit because it felt like actual toil. But those levels were in the minority.
It's pretty much more of the same as 1, just with more characters and few more unit types, but otherwise, both gameplay and difficulty wise, it's pretty much rinse and repeat. But then, when it's as addictive as it is, more of the same is what you want.
I genuinely had a hard time tearing myself away from this one, to the point where I'd be late for work in the morning, or overshot my lunch breaks. A sign of a good game if there ever was.
It's not without its bullshit though, which is why it only gets 4 stars.
