released on Nov 20, 2012

Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd you steal our garbage?! is the first video game based on the radical, Emmy nominated Cartoon Network show about two close friends - Jake, a wise old dog with a big kind heart, and Finn, a silly kid who wants more than anything else to become a great hero. Players will explore the Land of Ooo and set out on heroic quests, as their favorite characters Finn and Jake, in a unique action adventure experience. Adventure Time show creator Pendleton Ward is also heavily involved with the game creation, including the design of a brand new storyline, concept, and quests. Finn and Jake wake up one morning to find their trash stolen by the Ice King! Jake couldn't care less about half-eaten bananas, crumpled up math notes, and old chicken diapers - but when the Ice King uses these stolen goods to construct a Garbage Princess, our heroes embark on a fantastical adventure and teach him a lesson! Journey through the Land of Ooo in an offbeat adventure and discover perilous dungeons, unimaginable treasures, the true meaning of friendship, and never-ending fun!

zelda 2 if it was actually good

100th game marked as played, i'm glad it was this one :)

quite possibly the best title screen theme of any game ever, also not-so-fun fact: i remember beating it on the way to a funeral

It’s pretty solid, hell, might even say a great game.

It fairly short, but I think that’s perfectly fine since the game didn’t overstay it’s welcome. And despite it’s short length, the game surprisingly has some meaty content. The animations are really smooth and the soundtrack is really good, stand out being “Party in the Clouds”. The plot is fairly nonsensical and didn’t make much sense but was still very charming to experience.

My major gripe with this game though is random encounters. In my opinion, this addition felt completely unnecessary and could have easily have not been in the game. It annoyed me for the entire game, since they don’t instantly spawn in once you get into the overworld and sometime spawns just happens in the most inconvenient and stupidest of places. And the items they give you are worthless since you get a TON of items during your playthrough.

Other than that, this is a pretty solid, borderline amazing game. Even if I haven’t watched much of the show - i feel like i committed a sin… :/ - this was a delightfully charming game that perfectly captures the whimsical and weird nature of Adventure Time. For most of my playthrough, I was having so much fun. If you’re a fan of the show and you haven’t tried this game, DEFINITELY recommend you do so. And even if you haven’t really watched the show, you should give this game a shot if you like fun and tightly designed action platformers. Thanks for reading! ( ^ω^ )

Probably the best licensed game I’ve played. I was surprised at how good it ended up being since most games like this usually suck.

The pixel art was all pretty good and well done. It was also fun to be able to tell where in the show’s timeline this game would fit based on character interactions.

Most of the game was pretty tedious, with most levels just being 1 quick room to get to somewhere else on the map. The bosses were where all of the challenge in the game was found, and I use the word “challenge” lightly. Pretty simple little game that could be completed in one day

A spiritual successor to Zelda II
