I really loved the aesthetic of this game and the way it depicted remote (and "weird") America. It's a simple story of finding someone to help you get gas back in your broken down car. Elements of surreal and semi-magical realist story telling are peppered throughout a more standard "coming of age" story of being in your early 20s and trying to figure things out.
Though not groundbreaking, "An Afternoon Rippling" is a quiet but engaging achievement from the game's solo dev (though in conversations she's indicated to me she's not interested in making more games).
